Banana Roulade Cake

Banana roulade

The most amazing banana roulade you will ever eat! I just made it for my birthday. It requires you to make two separate parts of the roulade, then combine them together. Here’s the recipe and the photos I took on a Sunday afternoon. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

Cream
1/2 liter of milk
4 tablespoons extra milk
3 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons vanilla pudding
150g ground walnuts
125g butter

Bring 1/2 liter of milk to boil. In a separate bowl, whisk 4 tablespoons of milk, 3 tablespoons of flour, 3 tablespoons of sugar, and 2 tablespoons of vanilla pudding. Slowly add that to the boiling milk and stir until thickened. Remove it from the heat, add 100g ground walnuts, stir all together, and leave it aside to cool. When this cream is well cooled, whip in 125g of soft butter.

Biscuit

5 eggs
6 tablespoons sugar
6 tablespoons flour
1/2 baking powder
2 tablespoons oil
grated lemon peel
pinch of salt

Separate the egg whites from the yolks, and whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt. In the yolks add 6 tablespoons of sugar, oil, and lemon peel, and mix it all well. Add the whisked egg whites into the egg yolks mixture. Then add 6 tablespoons of flour and 1/2 of small bag of baking powder (about a teaspoon). Whisk it with a mixer. Place a baking sheet in a shallow pan, and pour the resulting mass. Pre-heat the oven to 180C, then bake the biscuit for 15 minutes. Do not open the oven until it’s done. After 15 minutes turn the oven off, and leave the biscuit to settle in for additional 5 minutes. Then, place this still warm biscuit on a damp cloth or towel (see the photo), roll it all the way in, and leave it in this bent shape so that biscuit will not crack.

Once both the cream and sponge cake are cooled off, you are ready to make a roll. Unroll the biscuit, and use 2/3 of a cream mass to lubricate the entire surface of a biscuit. Place 4 bananas like on a photo. Roll the biscuit up again. Put it on a tray or oblong plate. Cover the whole roll with the rest of cream (1/3), and sprinkle the remaining ground walnuts all over. Leave in the fridge to tighten. Bon Appétit!

Rolat od banane

Sastojci:

Krema

1/2 litre mlijeka
4 kašike mlijeka dodatno
3 kašike šećera
3 kašike brašna
2 kašike vanila pudinga
150g mljevenih oraha
125g putera

1/2 litre mlijeka staviti na vatru da proključa. U posebnu zdjelu umutiti 4 kašike miljeka, 3 kašike brašna, 3 kašike šećera, i 2 kašike vanila pudinga. To polako dodati ključalom mlijeku, i miješati dok se ne zgusne. Skloniti s vatre, dodati 100g mljevenih oraha. sve skupa promiješati, i ostaviti da se ohladi. Kad se krema dobro ohladila, umutite 125g mekanog putera.

Biskvit

5 jaja
6 kašika šećera
6 kašika brašna
1/2 praška za pecivo
2 kašike ulja
narendana kora limuna
prstohvat soli

Odvojite bjelanca od žumanjca i bjelanca umutiti sa prstohvatom soli. U žumanca dodati 6 kašika šećera, ulje, i koru od limuna, i sve dobro izmiješati. Dodati bjelanca u smjesu dobivenu od žumanaca. Svemu tome zatim dodati 6 kašika brašna i 1/2 praška za pecivo. Umutiti mikserom. U plitku tepsiju staviti papir za pečenje, i izliti dobivenu masu. U već zagrijanu rernu na 180C, staviti biskvit da se peče 15min. Ne otvarati rernu dok ne bude gotovo. Isključiti rernu i ostaviti biskvit 5min da stoji u rerni. Potom, još topao biskvit izvaditi i staviti na vlažnu platnenu krpu i zarolati tako da se ohladi u savijenoj formi, da biskvit ne bi popucao.

Kad se i krema i biskvit ohlade, spremni ste da napravite rolat. 2/3 kreme namazati po cijeloj površini odmotanog biskvita. 4 banane poredati kao na slici. Biskvit ponovo zarolati. Staviti na tacnu ili duguljasti tanjir. Ostatkom kreme premazati cijeli rolat, i posuti ga preostalim mljevenim orasima sa svih strana. Ostaviti u frizideru da se dobro stegne. Dobar tek!
